About US

Omuntu Wawansi is a non-governmental not-for-profit organization working to advance effective involvement of men and boys in all spheres of life, across communities in Uganda.

Founded in 2018 and registered under the laws of Uganda, Omuntu Wa Wansi contributes to ensuring improved health, socio-economic and gender related outcomes of populations in Uganda, through gender transformative approaches, that highlight the active role of men in establishing positive outcomes in homes, communities, and the country as a whole.

Our History

Andrew Kyamagero  as a founder and other like minded men, search and craved for men who ere as grounded as they were in terms of reproductive health information and there were a handful of them. This further magnified that men are archives of unrevealed pain and troubles that are never told and share because of the patriarchy system or culture where we come from, it is this tormenting silence to the male gender that triggered this group of men to open up spaces for men to talk about issues that have always depicted men as  perpetrators.

STRATEGIC APPROACHES

Our strategic approach to achieving Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights is guided by our Impact Model.

The Impact Model is a holistic, four-pronged approach that gives us flexibility to adjust objectives and tactics as needed in the fast-paced and changing world of public discourse and policy change.

Equip men and boys with relevant information on how to take charge of their families, finances and personal lives.

We use an online (twitter) platform where men and boys share their pressing challenges that they could hardly share anywhere else. They get solutions from their peers promptly.

We identify areas where media reaches but never makes any significant outcome and make sure men and boys in these places receive appropriate information on Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights and bodily autonomy for women and girls.

We use community notice boards to give information on the work of men and boys in promoting access to Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights, advertise vacant job positions and any  upcoming local events and activities and share best practices with community members.

We make these facts available to the young people, so they can take the power in their hands to effect change.
